Why Mathematics is Important

Many students wonder when they will ever use the Quadratic Equation or need to find the Volume of a cone in the real world of work.  Although it might be true that many people will never use complex Mathematical Functions in their daily tasks the skills that you develop when learning Maths is invaluable in the workplace today.  These skills may be applicable down the line, even if you are not studying to become an Engineer or an Accountant.  Many entry-level jobs require employees to have some Math knowledge.  Many Employers confirm that employees that are good at Maths or even have a good understanding of the basic Mathematical functions are much more capable in the office.

The following is a short list of important skills obtained from studying and learning Mathematics:

  • The ability to identify and analyse patterns
  • Logic and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to see relationships
  • Problem solving skills.
